Tips and Tricks
Are you tired of always having to
type in long nick names? Here is an easy shortcut for you. Say for example
you were going to type in my nick which is ^JoJo^. If there is no one else
in the room with the carot character, type in the ^ and then press the
Tab Key. My nick will automatically appear after ^ in the writing line.
Say my nick is MissJoJo. You see that there are two other nicks that start
with Mi. Then just type in Mis and the Tab Key and my nick will appear.
Once the nick has appeared in the typing line, you can continue to type,
or press the enter key. This hint will save you some time in typing.
Is there one popup that you are
continually using all the time? Are you tired of having to type in /nameofalias?
For the few popups that are like that, you can use your Function Keys for
it. Now the F1 and the F11 Function Keys are not available for use, but
you can use any of the others. Go to aliases, add an alias and name it
F2. On the right pane of the F2 alias, put in the command for the alias.
To play the alias, just press the correctly numbered Function Key. Since
I am an operator, I use my Function Keys for my authorizing. I also use
a kitty smiling face quite often, so I have that popup listed for a Function
Key also. Remember to use ONLY the F2 to F10 Function Keys. The F1 Function
Key is for Pirch Help and the F11 Function Key is for your ctcp and CANNOT
be used.
Is there one wav that you know the
name of it by heart and are continually playing? Are you tired of having
to open the media player and having to scroll through your list of wavs
to find it in order to play it? Have I got a short cut for you. Go to your
aliases and make an alias and name it S Then on the right
pane for the S alias put in the following command- /sound
# *1.wav I will explain this command so you understand
what it means. The /sound tells your program that you are going to be playing
a sound, # means it will play to the current room you are in, the *1 is
a wildcard that will pick up what you type for the name of the wav, and
the .wav tells your program that it is a wav you are playing. So to play
the zoom.wav without opening your medial player, type in /S
zoom and you will hear the wav play. You can also
add a phrase behind the /S zoom if you wish. For example, if you type in
this- /S zoom says that one went over her head What
will appear on the screen will be "JoJo says that one went over her
head" and the zoom.wav will play. This is a neat and fun shortcut.
:-) The only drawback to this shortcut is that you have to know exactly
what the name of the wav is or it will not play.
Another neat thing if you are a
dual room chatter. Say you are in two rooms and you are going on a be right
back. Instead of having to go to each room and typing in brb in both, do
the following. Type in this: /achan be right back. The
command /achan will put what you type in behind it in all channels you
are in. You also can put an alias behind the command. So for example, if
you have a brb alias, type in: /achan /brb This
will then put the brb alias in all the channels you are in. What a neat
little shortcut, and it saves on typing. :-) I also have found that
you can play aliases that have $snick in them via the /achan command, just
make sure you have the nicks highlighted in both rooms that you are in.
So if you have a cup of coffee alias and want to give a cup of coffee to
a person in each room, type in: /achan /coffee and
your alias will appear in both rooms with the nick that you have highlighted.
I have made available an Instruction
and Sample Zip files that you can download. Included are the instructions
that I have on this site and also a sampling of some aliases and popups
that you can copy and paste into your program. To download these files,
click on Downloads to get to the page. Open the files in
notepad and follow the instructions in the file.
