Instructions for Popups

Popups: Click on the popup button on the top of the screen. A window will open. You will see a 3 tab section. Click on the Channel (Names List). This is where you will paste the popup. First however, you will have to have categories and then names of the popups.  For example:

JoJo's Popups  (Category)

.JoJo's Popups  (Subcategory)

..CupCoffee:/me 12pours $$1 a hot cup of coffee. 8,5[0,5~~8,5]5,0D ..Itsnick:4o00o1_12©2¿12©1_4o00o1_ 12 Look its $$1 1_4o00o1_ 2©2¿12©

.Time Popups   (Subcategory)

..TimeStats: 2 information:  13Today is $day $date $+ , it is $time CST, and are $members people in #

.Smoking Popups  (Subcategory)

..MeSmoking: /me ()¯¯¯¯)¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ) ~~~~~ing!! ..MeGivesCig: /me gives $$1 a 1,8()¯¯¯¯)1,0¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯4,0)))1~~~~

The first line is the category. (Examples of categories: Dusts, Slams, Welcomes, Funny Sayings, etc.) The second line is the Subcategory line and that is what you will see when you go to popups. The third line is the actual name of the popup and the pasted copy of the popup. This procedure is called "nesting" your popups. It contains the $$1 command for the nick's name, and several other commands for the popup to work. The /me command will start out with your nick name. For the MeGivesCig popup it will play out to say JoJo gives nick a (picture of cigarette.) Make sure you start out the name of the popup with the 2 dots (..) and after the name of the popup you put a colon (:). This is very important or the popup will not play properly. Please note that any $ command has to have a blank space before and after it. If you don't, the popup will not play properly.

Look at the TimeStats popup. You see the commands for $time which will print out the time for you, the $day command which will print out the day (Monday, Tuesday, etc.), and the $date command which will print out the date February 27, 1997. Also listed is the $members command which will print out how many people are in the room. The # command will print the name of the room.

The important thing to remember about popups is that the popup MUST be all on one line. You may have a two or 3 line popup if you wish, but the entire popup must be on one line in the channel nicklist area of the popup menu. In order to have a two to three line popup you will have to insert a separator or pipe (the uppercase of the \ key on the keyboard) at the end of each line. When the popup is being played, the program will see the pipe and then start a new line after the pipe.

To play a sound with a popup you would place a pipe at the end of the popup and then type in the following: --> | /sound # zoom.wav That command means play the zoom wav (sound) to the room you are in. Remember you must have a | (pipe) before the command for the sound.

I have made available an Instruction and Sample Zip files that you can download.  Included are the instructions that I have on this site and also a sampling of some aliases and popups that you can copy and paste into your program.  To download this file, click on Downloads to get to the page.  Open the files in notepad and follow the instructions in the file.
